MCA certification

The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) developed the UK training standards in accordance with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation (OPRC). As certain IMO-level training Courses are compatible with UK standards, OSRL also demonstrates accreditation to IMO equivalent levels. 

As one of the first oil spill training organisations to receive accreditation from the UK Nautical Institute (NI), OSRL is accredited to deliver the full range of UK oil spill response training courses on behalf of the MCA.

MCA levels of training courses include:

  • MCA 2/2P - Oil Spill Operator - First Responder
  • MCA 3/3P - Shoreline Site Supervisor
  • MCA 4/4P - On-Scene Commander
  • MCA 5/5P - Oil Spill Response Management
  • MCA 3/3P - 5/5P Refresher - MCA Refresher (UK specific MCA recertification) / Oil Spill Response Refresher (includes OPRC/IMO & MCA recertification)
