A pre-packed, air-freightable toolkit for immediate well-control action
The Subsea Incident Response Toolkit (SIRT) is a modular, air-freightable intervention package designed to support early-phase subsea response during a well-control event. Its primary purpose is to enable site access, inject dispersant directly at the subsea source, and attempt a first intervention on the Blowout Preventer (BOP), bridging the critical time gap before a capping stack is deployed.
SIRT is stored pre-packed for rapid mobilisation by air, sea, road or rail and is strategically located in Norway and Brazil to ensure global reach. The toolkit includes three distinct systems, each of which can be deployed independently based on operational need and metocean conditions:
- Debris Clearance and Survey - offers a full suite of subsea tools, including cutting, grappling, and site survey equipment, including Water Column Monitoring (WCM) equipment which supports environmental surveillance by collecting water samples at different depths to track the behaviour of both dispersant and hydrocarbons.
- Dispersant Injection - contains subsea equipment to enable injection of dispersant into a flowing well.
- BOP Intervention - includes high-pressure, high-volume accumulators and specialised subsea tooling to attempt mechanical closure of the existing BOP.

Dispersant Injection System
The Dispersant Injection system contains subsea equipment to enable the injection of dispersant into a flowing well.

BOP Intervention
The BOP Intervention System uses high-pressure accumulators and subsea tools to close the BOP, with rapid recharge kits for remote use, supporting depths up to 3000m.

SIRT FAQs
-
SIRT includes equipment for debris clearance, subsea dispersant injection (CTTH, manifold, jumpers, wands), and BOP intervention systems. All subsea components are included, while surface support (dispersant, pumps, tanks) must be operator-supplied.
-
Yes. All components are designed for deployment at water depths of up to 3000 metres.
-
Yes. The toolkit is modular, each system (Debris Clearance, Dispersant, BOP Intervention) can be used independently depending on incident requirements.
-
The toolkit is stored in strategic locations in Brazil and Norway. It is pre-packed for rapid mobilisation by air, sea, road, or rail.
-
All components are manufactured by Oceaneering and maintained to readiness standards by OSRL.
