The Global Dispersant Stockpile (GDS) provides rapid access to approved dispersants, strategically positioned for immediate mobilisation. Our extensive network ensures timely delivery, enabling an effective response to offshore surface and subsea spills. Available through enhanced membership coverage, this stockpile complements our broader spill response capability, offering our members an integrated approach to incident mitigation.
We maintain a diverse selection of dispersants that meet global regulatory standards, ensuring compatibility with various spill scenarios. Our logistics and technical teams oversee storage, transportation, and deployment, helping to ensure a seamless process from request to application. Our members benefit from specialist guidance on dispersant use, regulatory compliance, and application techniques, maximising response efficiency and effectiveness.
The stockpile is designed to support both surface and subsea dispersant application and can be used independently or in conjunction with the Tersus system for aerial application, or the Subsea Incident Response Toolkit (SIRT), the Dispersant Delivery System (DDS), or other equivalent delivery systems. These can help mitigate volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at the surface, allowing for the safe deployment of subsea capping devices and surface response activities.
The stockpile contains three different dispersant types: Corexit EC9500A, Finasol OSR52, and Slickgone NS. These dispersants have the widest range of global approvals.

Depending on the scale of the incident and well flow rate, the stockpile can last several weeks, providing critical cover while a capping device is mobilised.
The dispersant is maintained, tested, regularly repackaged, and stored in covered warehouses. The current efficacy is approximately 90%.
Yes, the stockpile support equipment includes an ancillary pack, which contains a transfer pump complete with fittings, hoses, and valves.
