Delivering a customised capping stack to a major operator in South America

An operator in South America faced a mandatory request by the country's regulatory agency to maintain a dedicated capping stack system in country. This was a condition to ensure they were granted the correspondent environmental permit to move forward with the exploration and drilling campaign of a promising offshore Oil and Gas project. Delays to the delivery could have had an impact on the timing and facilitation of this venture.

An additional challenge was the tight deadline driven by the FPSO schedule, and the project resources planning. All this was complemented with the customer’s high standards, equipment customisation requirements along with mandatory documentation, industry testing and certification protocol requirements.

Working alongside Trendsetter Engineering, the OEM of the Capping Stack, we took on the challenge by organising a dedicated team of specialists to manage this project. In coordination with the customer, one of our long-term members, we integrated a network of specialised subcontracting services, and with close interaction with the regulators, the existing capping stack was refurbished in record time and upgraded to reflect additional operational considerations that the client required. A job like this can take up to 18 months, but thanks to Trendsetters technical expertise in rapid response engineering, it was completed in just six months.

We not only delivered the Capping Stack ahead of time, but also provided a one stop service solution, integrating the equipment provision, as well as the storage and maintenance under a subscription scheme that provided the operator with a turnkey solution.

This achievement reinforced the operator’s credibility and reputation in front of the country’s regulatory bodies, which elevated our organisation by establishing a new benchmark of quality and excellence in the region and in the industry in general.

Challenges

  • Working to a tight Deadline
  • The Equipment required a high degree of Customisation
  • Industry testing and certification requirements
  • Risk of delaying the drilling campaign

Results

  • We delivered in record time in just six months
  • One stop service solution
  • Investment savings to operator
