Putting people, standards and responsibility first

At OSRL, HSEQ is embedded in everything we do. From responding to incidents and delivering training to supporting member operations worldwide, we are committed to protecting people, acting responsibly, and continually improving the way we work.

Our HSEQ approach ensures that we maintain high standards of safety, wellbeing, environmental responsibility, and operational quality—building trust with our members, our partners, and each other.

Our approach to HSEQ

check

Safety first

Every action we take starts with one question: is it safe? Safety isn’t just a procedure—it’s part of our culture. From the field to the office, it guides our decisions and behaviours. Because when safety comes first, everything else follows.

Comprehensive health programme

We maintain a comprehensive employee health programme, including regular health assessments, vaccinations, and emergency medical support, to protect our staff from health risks and ensure their readiness.

Sustainable practices

We follow sustainable practices, managing resource use carefully, minimising travel impacts, and ensuring responsible waste management across all our operations, both on base and in the field.

Compliance and good practices

We adhere to global legal and regulatory standards and employ good industry practices to maintain our ISO accreditations. These frameworks underpin the quality, safety, and environmental performance of our operations.

Continuous learning

We deliver comprehensive training programmes, from responder competency to essential HSEQ and compliance requirements, alongside regular auditing and process refinement to maintain readiness.

Audit and assurance

We maintain a rigorous programme of self assurance activities to ensure our internal controls are fit for purpose and operating effectively. We welcome third party audits from our members and regulators.

Incident preparedness

Our teams undergo regular exercises to maintain operational excellence, ensuring they are ready to respond effectively in real-world scenarios, anytime, anywhere.

A safety culture built on care, responsibility and action

At OSRL, safety is more than a policy—it’s a shared commitment across every part of our organisation. Whether responding to an incident, delivering training, or maintaining equipment, we embed a strong safety culture that protects our people, our partners, and the communities we serve.

Life saving rules

At OSRL, we adopt the IOGP Life-Saving Rules to help prevent serious incidents and protect our people in high-risk environments. These rules focus on the activities most likely to cause harm and provide clear, practical guidance to help individuals make safe decisions.

The Life-Saving Rules are embedded in our training, reinforced through leadership, and supported by a culture that empowers everyone to speak up and stop work if something doesn’t feel right. They form a key part of our safety framework and reflect our shared responsibility to keep ourselves and each other safe, wherever we operate.

Health & Wellbeing: suppporting our people to perform at their best

We know that health and wellbeing are essential to safety and performance. OSRL provides regular health assessments, access to mental health resources, and support for teams working in demanding or remote environments. We encourage open conversations and promote a workplace culture where everyone feels supported and respected.

Environmental responsibility: reducing our impact and acting responsibly

Spill response is at the heart of what we do, and we approach it with a clear commitment to responsible operations and continuous improvement. Across all our bases and activities, we work to minimise our environmental footprint through careful resource use, safe chemical handling, responsible waste management, and more sustainable travel and logistics practices.

Our approach reflects our values and supports the wider environmental goals of our members and the industry, ensuring we operate in a way that is both effective and responsible.

Quality & operations standards: doing the right thing, the right way

Quality is integral to how we operate. We follow robust operational procedures, conduct regular audits and training, and encourage reporting and feedback at every level. Our commitment to continuous improvement helps us adapt, learn, and maintain the trust placed in us by our members and partners.

Continuous Improvement & Accountability

We believe that learning from experience strengthens preparedness and response. Through a strong culture of reporting, performance review, and process development, we refine how we work to meet evolving industry expectations. We hold ourselves accountable through transparent practices and by aligning with national and international standards wherever we operate.
